Dr. Henrietta Yang is Croft Associate Professor of Chinese and Co-Director of the Chinese Language Flagship Program at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Yang holds a M.A. and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin. She joined the University of Mississippi in 2013. Before coming to the University of Mississippi, Yang was Associate Professor of Chinese Studies and a program director at Morehouse College (2008-2013). She served as a teaching team leader for an Intensive Foreign Area Officer Program (FOA) at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, where she was a Certified Government Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) tester. Her research interests include formal syntactic theory, Chinese language pedagogy, Chinese linguistics, and the interface between linguistics and language teaching.
