Fall of the Berlin Wall Event Series Begins

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall (November 9, 1989), the Croft Institute and the Department of Modern Languages are holding a series of two lectures and three films from Monday, November 3 through Thursday, November 13.  The events are made possible by the generous funding of the German Embassy in the United States.

Monday, November 3, 2014, 6 p.m.- (cinematic feature) Die Stille nach dem Schuss (The Legend of Rita)

Wednesday, November 5, 2014, 6 p.m.- (cinematic feature) Die Unberuehrbare (No Place to Go)

Monday, November 10, 2014, 7 p.m.- (lecture) Ulrich Bach "Flight into the East: The Cinematic Quest for a Postunified Identity"

Wednesday, November 12, 2014, 5:30 p.m.- (presentations, documentary film) German 321 course poster presentations, followed by the film Zug in die Freiheit (Train to Freedom)

Thursday, November 13, 2014, 6 p.m.- (lecture) Konrad Jarausch "A Global 1989?" Transnational Dimensions of the Peaceful Revolution"
