Fight Poverty and Gain Professional Experience with the North Mississippi VISTA Project

The North Mississippi VISTA project, housed at the University of Mississippi, is looking for dynamic individuals to serve as VISTAs (Volunteers in Service of America).  For more information and to apply, visit http://vista.olemiss.edu/apply/ and contact Susan Nicholas at nicholas@olemiss.edu or (662) 915‐1905.  The deadline has been extended, so contact Ms. Nicholas right away if you are interested in the program!

The AmeriCorps VISTA program offers an opportunity gain professional experience fighting poverty by building the capacity of non-profit and educational institutions to serve the communities in which they are located.  Serving for a year as an AmeriCorps VISTA is a great choice for a senior looking for something meaningful to do after graduation or anyone who wants to make a difference in their community and nation.

Over a dozen Croft graduates have worked with AmeriCorps in some capacity, and nine have work as VISTAs in North Mississippi.  Their experience not only prepared them for the next step in their careers, in many cases it pointed them towards it, leading to graduate programs and employment that they would have never thought of pursuing.
